This month, at Ayuela Jiménez, we celebrate our tenth anniversary. Ten years since we embarked on a project born from the ambition to offer a different approach to legal advice in the business world.
A decade on, we can proudly say that the project has evolved into a well-established firm, respected in the market and recognised by our clients and peers within the profession.
A project born from the shared vision of three lawyers
The origins of Ayuela Jiménez date back to 2015, when Eduardo Ayuela and Joaquín Jiménez chose to set out on their own and establish a boutique firm, focused on specialisation, direct client engagement, and technical excellence. Shortly thereafter, Pablo Torán joined the venture, and together they began managing their first cases under the name Ayuela Jiménez.
Since then, the project has grown steadily, attracting talented professionals who share our vision and meet a high technical standard. Today, the team is made up of leading practitioners: Eduardo Ayuela heads the Commercial Law department; Joaquín Jiménez and Jesús Villamor lead the Economic Criminal Law department; Pablo Torán and Fernando Gutiérrez oversee the Litigation area; and Ion Mendizábal heads the Labour Law department. In addition, Eduardo Ayuela and Fernando Gutiérrez act as counsels and arbitrators in arbitral proceedings. A structure built on commitment, rigour, and trust.
A clear model from the outset
From the beginning, Ayuela Jiménez committed to a boutique legal model centred on specialisation, flexibility, and close client relationships. Our proposal was clear: to handle complex matters with highly qualified teams and the direct involvement of partners from day one. This commitment to differentiating ourselves from traditional models has proved consistent with our values and has allowed us to grow steadily while always maintaining our identity.
Organic growth and an international outlook
One of the keys to Ayuela Jiménez’s success has been our commitment to organic growth, always prioritising the development of internal talent. We recruit young lawyers with potential and train them from day one in our methodology and values. Many of those who started as trainees are now integral members of the firm, leading highly complex legal and strategic cases.
Moreover, our international profile has strengthened in recent years. In addition to our offices in Madrid and Bilbao, 2024 marks the opening of our London office. Over the course of this year, we have consolidated new strategic alliances and continue to work towards offering our clients international services of the highest standard, delivered with the same specialisation and personal attention that define us.
Recognition and positioning
Our commitment to excellence has been recognised by leading legal directories and publications. Chambers & Partners has ranked us continuously between 2022 and 2025 as Band 1 ‘Highly Regarded’ in Dispute Resolution. In 2024, we were awarded Best Boutique Firm of the Year at the Expansión Jurídico Awards, and our team has been highlighted in Iberian Lawyer’s Forty Under 40, with the Criminal Law department recognised as Team of the Year for three consecutive editions, and our Arbitration work recognised in 2024.
